Legal Question in Family Law in United Kingdom

Named as Co-respondent in UK divorce action

Is a US citizen with no ties to the UK required to respond to divorce papers relating to the marriage of two UK citizens, which names the US citizen as a co-respondent? Also, if the alleged affair took place over 2 years ago, and the UK couple continued to live together despite the petitioner's knowledge of the affair (as evidenced by emails), is there a basis for a divorce based on that incident of adultery?

Re: Named as Co-respondent in UK divorce action

Whether there is a basis for divorce would depend upon the law of the jurisdiction in which the divorce case is taking place. Whether there is a need to respond to the papers depends on what is in them and what, if any, relief is sought relating to the co-respondent.
