Legal Question in Family Law in United Kingdom

Permission required to re-locate

My partner and I recently seperated leaving me to bring up my son on my own. My partner sees our son once a week. I would like to re-locate from yorkshire to Cornwall and would like to know if my ex-partner can stop me from going.

Re: Permission required to re-locate

There is no way in which your former partner could prevent you from moving to Cornwall. In theory it would be possible for him to apply to the court for a residence order requiring your son to live with him, but this would hardly be in your son 's best interest and would not be granted if only for the purpose of making by the father easier for him.
