Legal Question in Family Law in United Kingdom
My son has a son whose girlfriend had a baby son 3 years passed, but unfortunately they have split up and over the last couple of years the babies grandfather [My son] has been allowed to have his grandson for a few hours every other week, and on some occasions sleep over, when his mother has to work.
The grandson lives with his mother in the same street as his grand father so she very often popped in to see if they would look after their grandson while she went to work, and she was never refused.
As of late the mother has been making petty little excuses as to why they can,t have him for any period of time.
My question is ,Has he got any legal claim as a grandfather to be able to have or see his grandson at any time.

it's rather the other way round. The law does not give a grand father the right to contact with his grand children but it does give a child the right to contact with all family members. A court will always act to ensure a child's best welfare and it is well established that contact with grandparents and all family members is in the child's best interest.
