Legal Question in Civil Litigation in United Kingdom
Harrassment
An ex-work Colleague is suing me for money he says I owe him, which I dispute. The case should be before a Judge in February 06.
This person telephones me 6 or 7 times a day saying if I don't give him the money now I'll be sorry. He's phoning and writing to my current work colleagues, my Boss and my wife making defamatory remarks about me. He turns up at my workplace demanding to see me. He says he'll 'set people onto me.' He says he'll turn up at my house and 'do for' me and my family.
This constant harrassment has caused me to lose 2 stone in weight and a Dr has now diagnosed me with Clinical Depression. I almost feel that my life is not worth living.
I will abide by the outcome of the Court Case, in which we will both put our differing arguments, but, in the meantime, what can I do?

Re: Harrassment
This is indeed harassment. Such can be both a criminal and civil matter. My suggestion is that you should first contact the police who will hopefully at the least caution this person against further harassing you. There is an alternative course of action in applying to the civil Court for an injunction but unfortunately this could prove expensive as legal aid is unlikely to be available. You should please let us know if you feel that there is no alternative other than to obtain an injunction from the court as we have a free advice kit on this subject.
What you should also do is keep a careful record of what this person is doing as it could well be relevant in the debt action being brought against you. also obtain a letter from your doctor on your medical condition.
Please let us know if we can help further either with this all with advice and assistance for the case.
