Spouse visas are generally granted for 2 years. This is known as the probationary period, after which time you can apply for indefinite leave to remain if you are still together.
If you divorce within the 2 years and are the non-British person within the marriage, your visa is technically no longer valid, as you are no longer the spouse of a British citizen and therefore the Home Office could choose to curtail your visa and remove you at any time.
