Legal Question in Immigration Law in United Kingdom
Hi
I was recently denied entance into the UK and the reason given was becase they claim my boyfriend said my name wrong and that he never met me or knew me, and bcz im not employed.
I was recently laid off, however while im seeking employmet I collect unemployment and also have money in savings from my 401k ect. so I had money to go on my rip to see him and also my US passport. I purchased a roundtrip ticket and was on my way. Mind you I have know my boyfriend for 6mo and he knows how to say my name very well;he does hv an accent as he is orginally from africa but, he speaks well.
Upon my arrival I presented my US passport and my Itinerary. I was asked how we met, how long i knew him, how long was my visit for and if i had children and a job,and with whom I resided with in the US. I said: we met online,6mo ive know him, 2wks, i have no children, and not working, and am staying with family in the US. Upon the officer return he advised me after a long wait that I was denied entrance de to him calling me another name and he claiming to hv not know me or ever having metme. My boyfrnd said when they spoke to him he was asked my name/if he knew me and was asked how we met, He said he spelled and said my nametold them he knew and met me then he claim the call was disconnected; he said he continued wating for me at the airport and after awhile re called back the boarder people of whom told him they sent me back home. Was this legal? and what should I do about this as I believe this was unfair.

It seems that you were treated quite badly by the UK Border Agency at the airport.
In your case, it would have been possible to appeal the refusal right there at the airport. As you have now returned to the USA, it may still be possible to appeal the order to the Immigration Tribunal, provided that the refusal was within the last 28 days (the Immigration Tribunals allow appeals from a person who is outside the UK).
It is, even otherwise, important to appeal, for the sake of your future visits, as your refusal will be kept on the system and would cause problems on your next visit to the UK.
