If you are on a Tier 1 visa and hope to eventually apply for settlement after having completed 5 years, there is no maximum number of days that you can be away from the country.

The requirement for settlement as a Tier 1 migrant is that you are "continuously resident" in the UK throughout those 5 years. Therefore, aside from genuine holidays abroad or short trips etc, absences from the UK are not recommended.

The only stage at which there are a maximum number of days for which you can be out of the country is when you apply for naturalisation as a British citizen.
