Legal Question in Employment Law in United Kingdom

Employee tie in period

A work for a pharmaceutical compamy and have been involved in a training program which has cost the company a large sum of money to put me through. They made me sign an agreement to tie me into the company for 3 years or pay back the training cost on a sliding scale. The tie in period only beging when I pass the exam and not when i have completed the training course.

Are these tie in period legally enforcable, or can i fight it?

Re: Employee tie in period

I cannot see that you are correct in saying that your employers made you sign this agreement. You clearly agreed to take advantage of the training offered and were aware that the cost would have to be repaid if you left the employment early.

This was an agreement freely entered into by you and it is not the purpose of the law to interfere with such agreements.
