Equal Pay For Equal Work
i have been employed by a company for 19 months. i have recieved no pay rise in that time. i was informed verbally at my interview that i would recieve a pay review after 6 months, this did not happen.In the last 12 months we've taken on several new staff, some of whom i trained, who are being paid £600 p/yr more than myself and 2 others. we all have same job title and decription, although i have additional duties. Should my wages be brought up to match the more recently employed staff?

The question of whether you are entitled to a pay rise will depend upon your contract of employment. Unless you are being discriminated against by virtue of your sex, race etc your employer is free to employ other persons and pay them more than he is paying you. You would however seem to have a genuine grievance in the way you are being treated and your employer has an obligation to investigate and answer this grievance. I suggest that you put the matter to the employer formerly with a request for it to be considered under the grievance procedure.
