Legal Question in Employment Law in United Kingdom
I have been working in the UK from June 2007 until July 2010 which is when I have resigned from my job. However until today I am still receiving my monthly salary onto my British account. I am not using any of it as I moved back to my home country where I took on a new job. That means all the transfered salary is currently lying accumulated for the months from August until today on my account.
My questions are:
- Am I obliged by law to let my employer know that I am still receiving salary payments allthough I do not work there anymore? HRMC has asked me to file my task return. If I do so I obviously show that I am aware of the money arriving in my account.
- Can the worst case scenario be of higher value than the accumulated salaries?
- Are there any time periods after which an employer can not ask back for money that was mistakenly wired?
- Summarised: Is there any way I can keep the money?
I am looking forward to receiving an answer, many thanks, regards, Johannes
