Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in United Kingdom
Evicting tenants in the UK
We own a house to which we rent out to 2 persons who are not related. Due to trouble with one we have served notice to end their tenancy agreement. They have sought adice from the local council, who pay their rent, and they have said we are unable to evict one person it must be both. There is one tenancy angeement with both names on. How do we stand?

The council are perfectly correct. You can only bring this tenancy agreement to an end which will remove the rights of both tenants to remain. If you then wish you must grant a new tenancy agreement to the satisfactory tenant.
