Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in United Kingdom
Notice required for eviction
I let my property on a 6 month assured tenancy agreement a year ago, and did not renew the agreement after the 6 months were up.I now need the property to live in myself and would like to know how much notice I am legally required to give my tenants.

Re: Notice required for eviction
You are required to give your tenant two months notice. However this notice (which must be in the approved form) must expire on an anniversary of the tenancy agreement. This is best shown by an example.
Say you entered into the agreement on the 15th of January. It was a six-month agreement which would run until the 15th of July. The tenancy agreement can therefore only be ended on the 14th of January or the 14th of July. You must give a clear two months notice to expire on or before these dates
