Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in United Kingdom

common law marriage? am i entitled to anything?

i have been with my fiancee for

just over 13 years, on and off,

being together for the past 6 and a

half. his father passed away 3

years ago but left no will, the

property was left to him and his

sister, but he made a verbal

agreement to give her 25k for her

share of the house and she signed

a form saying she would not claim

against the property. i have a son

whom my fiancee had brought up

as his own. my fiancee passed

away suddenly, with no will. we

were in the middle of moving into

the home his father had left. his

mother is now saying she inherits

the house and wants to sell it, i

have had to move all of my

belongings out. the paper work

had been signed by my fiancee to

transfer the property into his

name, but was never sent to land

registry by the solicitors. am i able

to make a claim against the

property? we were living together

for 6 years, in 2 homes, and i am

now struggling financially without

him.i have bills in both names for

both addresses. his mother has

also taken some

items that do not belong to her. as

the house was being decorated, i

had paid towards the kitchen,

bathroom, flooring, doors etc. Any

help would be greatly appreciated.

From a brief reading of the position you find your self in, this would appear to be a classic case of where you can apply for provision from the estate of your late fianc under the Inheritance [Provision for Family and Dependents] Act.

We will be happy to advise further on this if requireed.
