Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in United Kingdom
Intestate-distribution of the estate.
A married man dies intestate leaving a spouse and three children.
Under the present law the widow recieves 125,000. The remainder of the estate is divided into two halves.
One half is awarded to the widow, the remaining half shared equally between the surviving siblings.
My question:- I understand that of the siblings portion of the estate the widow is entitled to recieve the interest on this capital.
Would this interest be limited to just one year or would it be expected to continue for the lifetime of the recipient?
Or perhaps a limited period ( e.g 5 years )?
A legal ruling on the position would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Re: Intestate-distribution of the estate.
what you say it is quite correct. In answer is basically for the lifetime. However I do have a suspicion from the nature of your question that there could be more to this and that it could be worthy of a telephone discussion. There will be no charge for this and if you will let me have a telephone number we will be in touch.
