Re: late fathers estate
Six years is too long by far for an executor to wind up an estate. It would be expected that all but the most complex of estates would be wound up and distribution made to the beneficiaries within one year. As such this does unfortunately give grounds for concern especially if no communication has recently been received from the executor. It should be remembered that any claim through the courts should usually be be brought within six years, and although the need for such is in all probability most unlikely, it is something that should be born in mind.
Most certainly urgent and immediate action is necessary. This should commence with a letter to the complaints partner at the firm of solicitors appointed as executors. The letter should call for a reply within a specified period giving details of the progress in winding up your father estate and calling for an explanation of why the administration has taken so long. Depending upon the reply further consideration must be given and if required we will be pleased to advise further.
