Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in United Kingdom

my solicitor gave me an estimate to handle my late sisters estate , now over 3 months later he has decided that he needs to do some more work. I don't understand as the information that my sister and myself gave him before my sister died and before he agreed to be an Executor has not changed, Can he now charge my sisters estate more than his estimate?

The issue here are will be whether the solicitor gave you a quote for winding up the estate or whether it was an estimate based on the work anticipated. if the latter and it is now become apparent that extra work is involved he will be entitled to vary the estimate. Further investigation will be needed.
