Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in United Kingdom

Will's and claiming money owed to me.

My grandmother died just over a

year ago now, before she died she

informed my parents of the details of

her will which would entitle me and

my sister to a resonable amount of

money. The will and her assets etc

were left to my uncle to sort out as

he owned the house and was more

knowledgeable of such things,

assuming he'd be fair and organise

things properly. However we have

never heard a thing from him and

any contact we have atempted to

make with him hasn't been

responded to and i'm wondering how

i can go about finding out what was

in the will and if i am entitled to

anything how to go about getting it?

Is there a way i can find a copy of

the will? Also is there a time limit on

how long i have to claim what could

be rightfully mine?

Re: Will's and claiming money owed to me.

Your first step should be a search at the Probate Registry to establish whether a grant of probate has been made to your grandmother's estate. If no grant has been taken out formal demand must then be made of your uncle to establish whether he was indeed appointed as the executor in the will.

Let us know if we can assist.
