Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in United Kingdom

wills and probate

my nana died and left a will. A letter of administration was issued and i want to know how this can be. I thought you only got a letter of administration when a will is not found?? also is a will held with a solicitor, how do i find this, and who informs the solicitor of my nans death if anyone does.

Re: wills and probate

The answer to these mysteries must be to carry out a search at the Probate Registry. This will disclose the grant that has been issued and if the grant was for letters of administration with the will attached (as will be issued when there is a will but no executors appointed) there will be a copy of the will.
