my secured heloc was discharged in bankruptcy 7. Should I continue to pay as I am keeping my home? if I sell will I have to take care of the heloc. Does the lien eventually fall off? I live in ny

A chapter 7 will discharge such a secured debt and render you free of personal liability. Yet, the lien will remain on the property, and will have to be paid off prior to the home's sale. In addition, a lienholder may foreclose if their debt is not paid.
