Legal Question in Immigration Law in United States

I was born in Ghana Africa and came here 28 years ago. I've also lived here my whole life. My father became a citizen before I was 18 but he never did anything about my statue. 14 years ago I committed a crime and got a felony. I haven't been in trouble with the law since and have tried to demonstrate good behavior and I recently came out as gay. My question is what should be do?

You should consult with an immigration attorney as soon as possible. I take it that you have just been renewing your greencard every ten years. If not, and you are asked about your status and you don't have a valid greencard, you could be placed in a detention center. There may be an option available to you since your father became a US citizen before your birthday. However, I need to know exactly when he naturalized before I can make that determination. Ask him for the date on his naturalization certificate and give me a call at 1-800-408-5818. And your sexual preference should be of no concern to you because it's not a determining factor as to whether to approve your application or not.

If youd like to schedule a telephone or email legal consultation, please do not hesitate to contact me. Please email your inquiries at [email protected] and Ill send you a Questionnaire. Or you may reach me by telephone at 1-800-408-5818.
