Depends on what your agreement is. You might want to do an internet search on the statute of frauds to give you a bit of background.

A few examples where the answer is no: a real estate purchase or lease; home repair or remodeling; some contracts that last longer than 1 year.
Many oral contracts are enforceable, but there are lots of exceptions.
