Legal Question in Family Law in United States Minor Outlying Islands

Left Property

My spouse has left me and went to

another state. (from Minnesota to

Missouri). She is being nasty and I

have asked her to come and pick up

her personal items left behind. How

long do I have to hold onto them, or

can I sell them, or donate them to a

church immediately?

Re: Left Property

If you are not divorced and a court has not determined each party's respective property rights by deecree, it would not be wise to destroy, sell or other wise remove any property from the home. If you do so, a court may credit you with the value of that item in a divorce proceeding. Regardless of what occurred or how angry you may be, it is not wise to act before a court order permist you to do so.
