Legal Question in Military Law in United States Minor Outlying Islands

Breaking My Contract with the Army

I enlisted in the Army in February

and went off to training. During my

training I injured myself and they

sent me home for 30 days with me

promising to return. I booked a flight

and went on my way back, however

during my layover in Atlanta I had a

breakdown and changed my ticket

back home. I am considered AWOL

right now and I need to go back, they

say. How can I break my contract

with them? Before I enlisted they

said that I had to go through

psychological evaluation which I

never did. All they did was waive it. I

really cannot handle it physically and

mentally. I do not know what to do.

Any advice?

Re: Breaking My Contract with the Army

I have an article that addresses this subject in more detail at awolinthearmy.com, but the short answer is you are likely eligible or soon will be eligible for a discharge at a pcf at either ft. Sill or ft. Knox.

Contact the gi rights hotline (girightshotline.org) or an attorney for more info.

Good luck in getting out!

James
