Document Retenetion

Am I required by law to store automobile sales records in a paper form or can I scan those documents and destroy the originals.

I am not aware of any law regulating retention of records, however, the Bureau of Motor Vehicles may have regulations for dealers. Contact them. Normally retention of records is required in a form which can be retrieved and observed. If none of your records are originals, you can certainly scan them.
