Legal Question in Banking Law in Utah
Title on my car released too soon
I recently sent in a small payment to pay off one of my cars but when I got the title it was for a car I still owe $15K on. They included a copy of the purchase agreement that they had stamped paid. Since they released their lien do I still have to pay the loan? Their computer still says I should make the payments, but the documents they sent me, including the title, say otherwise. What is my legal obligation?

Re: Title on my car released too soon
The release of lien was a clerical mistake, which could be undone in court. You technically have a car without a lien, but that technicality can be reversed. Your mother would be proud of you if you went to the lender and straightened things out. You could then be proud of yourself.
