Legal Question in Business Law in Utah
damage to car on employers property
My employers require employees to park in specific areas. Parking out of these areas is not allowed. There has been an ongoing problem of automobile break-ins or vandalism where I am required to park. My car was broken into approximately seven weeks ago and just recently another car was broken into, making it the seventh or eighth(maybe more) such occurance. Still nothing has been done to rectify the situation. Should my employers be liable for damages to my car, and others? Any help on this matter will be greatly appreciated.

It may be difficult to have the employer made responsible for your losses - but not impossible. You would have to prove that but for the employers parking plan that the break ins would not have occurred. In a practical vein, get all of your coworkers together and request that the company make the parking more secure, either through fencing, guards, security cameras etc.
