Re: Effective Date

Generally the express terms of a contract apply, unless there is a convincing clerical or typographical error. All of the terms of a contract are read together to give meaning to the contract. Generally the effective date is the date of the contract, but parties can agree that an earlier date governs the contract. Some contracts are "integrated" meaning that all of ther terms are included and cannot be modified. Other contracts allow for oral testimony to modify the terms. Read the entire contract, and if not clear you may have to see an attorney or file for an order to determine the terms of the contract. You can also get the other party to agree to the effective date (in writing).
