Legal Question in Business Law in Utah
Where can I file my lawsuit?
I was ripped off by a company while living in California. However, I have since moved to Utah. The company is incorporated in Nevada even though they have no offices in Nevada and do not do much business in Nevada. Obviously, now that I'm in Utah, I would rather file the case in Nevada or Utah for convenience sake. My question is this: can I file the case in Nevada or Utah?

Re: Where can I file my lawsuit?
Probably not in Utah. You can try but the court will likely dismiss it at some point unless you can show that the company has an office in Utah or actively does business in Utah. If so, you may be able to maintain the suit in Utah without it getting dismissed for lack of jurisdiction by the Utah courts.
Re: Where can I file my lawsuit?
You file where the defendant has its primary place of business; or where the rip off occurred.
