Legal Question in Business Law in Utah
Internet Fraud
I purchased very high end speakers on the internet from Utah. The seller is in South Carolina. The total purchase price was $7500.00 and I sent a cashier's check. The check was cashed, but I never received the speakers. What recourse do I have in this matter. Can I have him prosecuted? Will law enforcement really help in this matter? From what I have been able to obtain, the seller has moved, probably out of the state.

Re: Internet Fraud
You can sue the seller; you may try to cancel the cashier's check, but if it has been cashed you are out of luck. Try contacting the website through which the sale occurred to get an identity on the seller. In the future use an escrow service who acts to receive the property and the payment, then exchanges them and forwards them on.
