Are there any laws or regulations concerning the collection of data for the use of a directory? If so what are the laws and/or regulations and how do we obtain this data (business name, contact phone number, business address and website, etc). Thank you for your time.

An attorney will tell you, it depends on what type of data you're talking about and what kind of directory you wish to publish. Most categories are fine, but there are exceptions that could get you into hot legal water. Consult with an attorney in your area for specific advice.
