Legal Question in Business Law in Utah
I paid someone to build a computer from me, they created an invoice gave me a fake order number from the website they claimed they were purchasing from and it has been 2 weeks. I now found out that the orders were never placed and he has spent the money on christmas things instead of my computer. I informed him to return the money as he is a friend of mine but he states that he is a business and will send me a check in 14 days. What should I do? He obviously tried to rip me off by giving me excuses after he spent all my money.

As a Franchise Attorney I can only say this. A business, especially a small one, can send out a check the next day if they really wanted to. It seems your friend is giving you the run around. Give him a short deadline to refund your money and if he doesn't, sue him in small claims court. There are small claim court advisers that will help you through the process. Consult with a good business or franchise attorney in your area for specific advice.
