Legal Question in Business Law in Utah
I purchased a trade in car for $2000 from a major dealership in Utah. The vehicle was sold as is. Two weeks later I'm finishing up up registration when I learn the vehicle has a lien on it. Does this lien roll over to me, the dealership (who gave me no knowledge of this), re-attach to the original owner, or disappear?

When you buy a used vehicle, you take it subject to any existing liens. You do, however, have a cause of action against the dealership for not disclosing the existence of the lien. They do have an obligation to find out about any liens before selling the vehicle to a bona fide purchaser, which you are.
