Legal Question in Business Law in Utah
I recently purchased a restaurant from the previous owner/chef of 18 years. She signed a non-compete agreement (5 years). An article appeared in the local paper stating she had sold the business to me and then advised the reading public of her new (private chef) business in the same article. The article concluded by stating, "for more information visit www. (her new business).com. The reporter told me that the previous owner had contacted her about the sale.
Does this conflict the the non-compete agreement?

I would have to look at the agreement. This is not a question of generally what happens, but what happens in light of what your specific agreement says. Without seeing the agreement itself, I cannot answer your question.
