Legal Question in Business Law in Utah

sale of boat-contract

Could you please advise me?I have a contract that outlines a payment schedule, dates, and identifies my boat for sale. I have obtained both signatures. I received the first 2 payments. No payments have been received since. I have moved out of the state of CA. I understand that lawyers are not allowed to represent me @ small claims court.May I sue in small claims court for my travel exp. to/from court+outstanding amount stated in the contract? I am unable to post the entire contract for review. If you could let me know where I might locate information regarding small claims court in CA I would appreciate it very much. Thank you

Re: sale of boat-contract

You would need to appear yourself in California small claims to give testimony. You can have an attorney to obtain repossession of the boat, although that would be in Superior Court for such an order. There are a number of California Court on line assistance sites. You should search for the County Superior Court for the county in which the boat is now located.

Note your contract may allow you to go pick up the boat. If title is still in your name, you are also entitled to possession of the boat and can go get it without a court order.
