Legal Question in Business Law in Utah
I used to work for a home security company located in Salt Lake City, I was however laid off recently due to the company just not getting enough business. Anyways, while I was working for them the method of payment was that I would receive $60 up front for each job I did while the rest of the money($25) would be withheld to be given at a later date (Oct 16) on one large check(we do have an agreement signed that states this). Well I got a call from another one of the technicians yesterday where he told me that the company doesn't have enough money to pay everyone their end of the season check and that they would try to recover from their current state and pay us when they can. They essentially threatened us as well that if any of us got a lawyer to attempt to get our money they would just file bankruptcy and then no one would see a dime of what they owe us. Is there anything I can do to get my money that these guys owe me? They owe me $5 to $6,000
