Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Utah
Engagement breakup and ring
My daughter found her fiance cheating on her after she entered his home and found a picture of him with another woman after 4 years of dating and a 3 yr engagement. She left the ring and then returned for the ring 1 hour later. His front door was open as always and she just entered again and took the ring back. By law does she need to return the ring. She wants to return the ring after he pays her back the 1200.00 that he owes her from monies she gave him for debts he had and later found out was buying steroids with this money.

Re: Engagement breakup and ring
Your daughter should return the ring. It was given on the condition that the marriage would occur. Since the marriage is not going to occur, she is not entitled to the ring, even though he was unfaithful.
