Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Utah
Forging checks and embezzlement
My father was terminally ill for a few years and has recently passed away. As I was settling his estate I came across something that was very alarming. His estranged wife had been forging checks from his account by signing his name, she was not authorized on account, by writing mutiple checks to her credit union and depositing them into her account over a one year period. I can prove the checks are forged and I have a statement of her account with the actual # she had been putting on the back of the checks for deposit. My question is would I have a case if I took her to court and?or sued her. I've got hard copies of checks totalling $12,493.00. What do you think?
