Re: Slander

Libel is defamation by written or printed words, while slander is the communication of a defamatory statement by spoken words. For slander you would have to have a witness. You also need to prove damages, such as damage to your reputation that resulted in a loss of income, business or opportunity. Slander is very difficult to prove in court, and often it is difficult to prove damages. You may win the lawsuit, but only get "nominal" damages.

Re: Slander

You can sue for slander, but unless you have real damages, I wouldn't bother in a he said she said situation. You have to have "publication" which means witnesses who will testify, and the matter has to be something other than the person's opinion of you or something you've done. Don't waste the court's time if all you really want is a bit of payback.
