Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Utah

Stolen Cards

I had my wallet with all my CC in it stolen from my work. I hurried and called to cancel my cards and the bandit already tried to charge large amounts on all of my cards at a local Target.

I called the cops but they just took note of it and seemed like it was a bother. The guy didn't get away with much. Most of my cards were maxed anyways so they kept getting declined.

I went to Target today so I myself could see who the bandit was and I was told that for privacy policy he couldn't let me review the tape.

What! how is that legal they let this guy sit there and try 5 different cards to try to buy something until finally a $53.00 charge went through on one of the cards. What was even more upseting they knew this guy and said they were wondering what he was doing because he was a homeless man and had been caught in there bathroom cooking meth.

My credit card company said they would credit my $53.00 back so I am loosing no money here, but I am still upset it seems like no one wants to help me here.

Don't I have the right to look at that tape so I know who to watch for at my work?

Re: Stolen Cards

The tape is private property of Target. Talk to their security department and see if they will release it to the police. Otherwise you can file suit against John Doe and Target, and subpoena the tape as well as the identity of the person.
