Domain Dispute .net vs .com
(XYZinfo is a fictious name)
I purchsed a domain XYZinfo.Com in 2001.
A few months ago XYZinfo.Net was registered, the owner is threatening to sue me for Cyber squating.
XYZinfo.Com is a free information site, I dont want to spend excess money to defend it, should litigation occur. Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Domain Dispute .net vs .com
The true name of your site is blocked out. If that name is very similar to the complaintant's name and that name is a known name, then you may have to make a change. If the name is not related to the complaintant in any reasonably close way, or if you have equal notoriety, then there may not be a basis for his complaint.
Example. If your site is named xerax and the complainant is xerox, you may be too close and may be infringing. However, if your site is xerax and your name is well known, and the complaintant's name is ceracts, you would be entitled to keep the name.
