Legal Question in Construction Law in Utah
State of Utah - We are doing a project on a time and materials basis. We have no written contract with our contractor. He hasn't shown up or been involved in the last two months; I have managed everything myself. I want to pay the subs direct.y. Am I legally bound to pay the contractor his mark up?

If there is no written contract, you can terminate the contract and pay the subs directly. Be prepared for the contractor to protest, protect yourself by using your records to show his lack of involvement.
