Legal Question in Consumer Law in Utah
Please help, please advise. I've received a summons on a bad check for $140.00 a year and half ago and the law office wants me to pay $1001.18. I was gievn the summons on Sunday. I anwered on Monday and the law office called me today and said if pay $700.00 today they will close the case. I asked for payment options/arrangements and they said they don't do that. I live paycheck to paycheck and to come up with $700.00 the day they call, I couldn't, do I have any recourse?

You can allow them to get judgment against you. If you do not have any excess funds or property there may be nothing to garnish.
