Legal Question in Consumer Law in Utah
auto repair cost $415 for nothing
Our transmission was malfunctioning. It was dropped off at repair shop for ''free'' check. They called and said the check would cost $189. We ok'd that. After the ''check'' they called and said the repair would be over $2,000. We said, ''no'' and said we would come by and get the car. We were told the car was no longer drivable after they checked it out and we would have to let them fix it. We refused and they finally agreed to put the car back together so we could take it somewhere else to be repaired for another $100. So, that was $389. Today, it's time to go and pick it up and they called and said the total comes to $415.29. The car is still broken. We're planning on paying it because we want our car back so we can have it fixed. Can a shop get away with that?
