Legal Question in Consumer Law in Utah
Automobile Repair Problem
I brought my car into a shop to have a problem with the starter fixed. I asked them to fix the problem and the replaced a part. The next day, I found that the same problem was happening so I brought it back. They replaced the part again and I drove the car home. The next day, the same problem was happening and I called them. They said the problem was the starter, so I took it to another shop and they said that the problem was that the part that was replaced was wrong. While looking at it a 3rd time, the shop left the car running out in the 100 degree sun for 30 minutes and ruined the fuel pump. They are asking me to pay for the repairs for the fuel pump. Do I have a case?

Re: Automobile Repair Problem
You should not have to pay the first shop, and they should refund all of your money. The running of the car in the heat should not have ruined the fuel pump. It may have been a coincidence that it failed while in the second shop. Pay for a new fuel pump and be grateful that it did not fail on the freeway.
