Legal Question in Consumer Law in Utah
Is Gold's Gym Taking Advantage of Me?
I joined a local gym a year ago. Gold's Gym bought out this gym a few months after I joined. I wasn't told about the buy-out or notified at all! I found out when I went in to pay my monthly fee. My question is, shouldn't have Gold's notified existing members of the buy-out? Do I have a way to get out of my contract legally due to this omission of information? Because I want nothing to do with Gold's Gym & have been fighting for literally months now to get my membership canceled.

The contract you signed probably allowed the gym to assign the contract to a buyer (Gold's). Golds now owns the contract and you must continue to perform (pay). When your contract expires you do not have to renew.
