Legal Question in Consumer Law in Utah
third party auto sales contract
I made a sales contract and payment plan with a co worker. The contact is for $ 1500 at 100 each month for 15 months. The seller wrecked her other car and has been trying to breach our contact. All payments on time, but the tags are still in her name and I cant get her to send witten okay for tags to be changed. What can I do ? Is the sales contract good enough for DMV to change over tags? Help !

Re: third party auto sales contract
Normally you need to present the old title to the DMV which will list you as the new owner and showing a lien in favor of the seller. The seller holds the title until you pay the contract off. New registration is issued at that time. When you finish making payments, the seller releases the lien and the title is sent to you.
Tell the seller that unless he/she refuses to coooperate you will go to court (small claims) and get an order requiring cooperation.
