Legal Question in Consumer Law in Utah
Payment for discontinuing Dish Network
I have opted to cancel my Satellite service. I talked by phone with the Dish Network who said they would prorate the fee ($240) for months left on my contract. They did. Now the local retailer with whom I signed a contract is demanding the same $240 fee. (not prorated) plus a $100 dis- connection charge. It seems to me I am paying the same cancellation fee twice.....or do the Network and the local retailer each require a $240 cancellation fee? All told I have paid $500 for cancelling my Satellite service. I feel like I have been ''had''.
Thanks for any help

Re: Payment for discontinuing Dish Network
Your answer lies with the agreements you signed with the local retailer. Sometimes they have you sign their own set of contracts, independent of those you signed with DISH. You need to get copies of all of your contracts and review them.
