Legal Question in Consumer Law in Utah
We purchased a used car 24 hours ago. Because it is a 2002 vehicle, its warranty has expired and we bought it as is. Which looked and drove fine. Today we had a mechanic check it out and it is severely rusty underneath. We would like to return the car. Is that possible? HUsband is talking to salesman now. We would appreciate your take on the law aspect of this.

You bought it "as is." You should have had a mechanic look at it before you purchased it. However, if the dealer or salesman knew it was rusty they had a duty to disclose that to you.
