Legal Question in Consumer Law in Utah

Salesman forged my signature on a lease

Sir/Madam

I'm business owner. I was approached by a Xerox rep stating that he was not a salesman. He wanted to place a copier in my place of business for a 30-day beta test with no obligation. I reviewed the agreement, made a few changes, and signed it. The machine was delivered. Xerox picked up the copier after 30 days. Several days later another copier arrived. The rep said it was also a 30-day test. I did not sign any contract or agreement for that copier. Several weeks later, we received a call from the local Xerox dealership. They asked if I leased a copier. Of course, I said no. Apparently, the salesman forged my signature on a lease contract. The manager of the local Xerox dealership and a rep from the corp. office of Xerox arrived at my place of busines said that I was under no obligation for any use of the copier and to continue using it until they made arrangements to pick up the copier. I responded by requesting a letter from Xerox stating that the salesman forged my signature and I was under no obligation. The copier has been here for two months. The reps have stopped in, only to say that the attorney has not given them the letter and to keep the copier.

What's going on? Should I be doing anything?

Re: Salesman forged my signature on a lease

Send the dealer a letter telling them that they have 10 days to pick up the copier or you will dispose of it. Tell them your signature was forged. Do not use the copier. Send it by regular and certified mail. If they do not contact you, then you call me.
