Legal Question in Consumer Law in Utah
Wrong color carpet and damages to house during install
My daughter purchased carpet for her newly purchased home. The carpet installer showed up 6 hours late, did not finish the one day job for 5 days, caused damage to walls, tile grout and door frames. All of which had just been newly installed and or refurbished. In addition the carpet install was the right style and grade but wrong color. The retailer has been told her she can recieve a discount for the wrong color but all other damages are just part of the installation process. She can't move in and has had to pay for other living arraingment as well as a house paymetn on a house she can't move into.
IS teh retailer required to put the right color of carpet in, pay for damages and provide compensation for the cost of not being able to move into her home?

Re: Wrong color carpet and damages to house during install
THe seller and installer are responsible for all of the damage and for the wrong color carpet. She may have to sue to get action. Tell her to give the retailer 10 days to fix and repair, if not sue them.
